"UNLOCKING THE FULL BENEFITS OF DATA-DRIVEN DECISION-MAKING"

Mohammad Ariful Islam, Dhaka, Bangladesh

"This blog post pertains exclusively to the United Nations World Data Forum 2023 and its thematic area of augmenting data utilization and value for superior decision-making."

In today's fast-paced digital age, access to information has never been easier. However, with this abundance of information comes the risk of misinformation and abuse. As a result, it is imperative that the latest quality data is brought to the forefront in order to protect against these dangers.

Data sharing, analysis, and communication are essential components of the modern business world. With the advancement of technology, organizations can now collect, process, and share vast amounts of data in real-time. The practical use of these capabilities is critical to unlocking the full benefits of data-driven decision-making.

Misinformation can be defined as false or inaccurate information that is spread deliberately or unintentionally. In the digital world, misinformation can be spread rapidly through social media, online forums, and other digital channels. This can lead to confusion and misunderstanding, and can even have serious consequences, such as causing harm to individuals or communities.

In order to protect against misinformation, it is important to ensure that the latest or updated quality data is available and easily accessible. This means that data should be accurate, reliable, and up-to-date. Quality data can be sourced from reputable organizations, such as government agencies, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations. It is important to verify the credibility of the source before relying on the information they provide.

Quality data can also help to protect against abuse. This can take many forms, such as cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and online harassment. In order to prevent abuse, it is important to have access to accurate and up-to-date data on individuals and organizations. This information can be used to identify those who are engaging in abusive behavior and to take appropriate action to stop it.

In addition to protecting against misinformation and abuse, access to the latest quality data can also have a positive impact on various aspects of a sustainable society. For example, accurate data can be used to inform public policy and decision-making, as well as to help businesses make informed decisions about the alignment with the global goal of 2030. It can also be used to support scientific research and to improve our understanding of the world around us.
